I bought a Musso 6 months ago. It is the long wheel base, top of the line.
Overall I like it. It has just broke the 10,000 k mark and started improving rapidly after 7,000. Going for a 1,000k+ trip this weekend i expect to get mid 8's L / 100k.
I like most things, the 360 deg cameras are high on the list. Ride is improving, and I hope this continues.
I removed the back horizontal seat, 2 bolts and 1 electrical connection. I am much happier with the extra space. My car retailed at $36K, but with a trade you never know what things cost. I think if you paid cash you could get it for $33K. No sunroof but with high profile tyres, is what I wanted.

I wouldn't touch the Mitsubishi. I've heard the Ssangyong is a far superior vehicle all round. The power unit for the Ssangyong is Mercedes/ Ssangyong so it wlll be a very good engine. Obviously they believe so too otherwise they wouldn't have given it a 7 year warranty with unlimited ks.

That's to be expected that the triton would feel better with weight in the back as it's probably got useless leaf springs. However if the triton is empty then you'd find it would be as stiff as in the back. Leaf springs unless you're a farmer and putting big loads in the back and totally useless as they are too rigid unless loaded. Coil springs or even better air bag suspension is superb and gives a very good ride quality. Most people would very rarely put that sort of load in the back however they might want to tow something with it, more than likely. As you say if you're a tradey and like to leave it loaded up then go for leaf spring option.

Must be mad to even compare these two uts. With the ssangyong it's like buying a boat, you will only be happy with it twice, the day you buy it and the day you get rid of it.

Love the price & equipment on the SsangYong but definitely needs a considerably longer tray! And that lap seatbelt in the rear is dangerous & tacky! Particularly on a top spec model. With the addition of optional leaf springs & longer tray i imagine some tradies will find it a lot more tempting.

Another point worth mentioning, is that the Musso has, gas stuts for the bonnet/hood, whereas the Triton has the dreaded prop support rod, which can only be interpreted as mean spirited on Mitsubishi's part, as the paltry price difference would not be something that prospective buyers would whinge about. Come on Mitsubishi, it's 2020, time to lift your game somewhat…

Has the triton been crashed? The front looks like it’s been repainted.

Is there a modification to fit a lap sash seatbelt in the rear?

to compare for dual cap & chassis tray, triton(only 1 model)37k vs musso(long wheel base/middle option)47k. Ssangyoung charges $4700 for chassis tray and $2500 for triton…
